SELECTING JEWELRY TO COMPLEMENT YOU
Purchasing a piece of jewelry can be a weighted decision. Gold or silver? Diamonds or pearls? Fortunately, you need not look too far for the answer because every woman has a built-in indicator to best determine her most complementary colors: skin tone. Skin tone is as important in choosing the right makeup as it is jewelry, but you may be wondering just how to go about identifying your own skin tone. What should you look for?
Tips to find the jewelry that best suits you:
If you tan easily and do not burn, your skin’s natural melanin (the pigment that gives skin its color) level is higher, and you most likely have a yellow-to-olive, warm undertone. Warm skin tones are identifiable by having a greenish colored hue beneath the skin, and people with warmer skin tones may notice yellow or golden-apricot undertones when looking in the mirror. Warmer skin stones favor metals such as gold, pewter, brass, and copper, and stones such as coral or golden-toned pearls. Gemstone color includes browns, greens, and oranges.
If you burn often in the sun and tan minimally or not at all, you have less melanin in your skin, which results in a pink, bluish-red undertone. If you have a cool skin tone, ie a bluish hue beneath the skin, opt for such metals such as sterling silver. Cooler skin tones also favor stones such as white pearls and diamonds, while stone color should focus on jewel tones such as pinks, purples, blues, and reds.
